Virgo New Moon
Thursday, September 14, 2023, 20:40 CST
all the streams of you are still present.
In Virgo, we don’t have the opportunity to have our heads in the clouds because there is, simply put, too much to get done.
Mercury, the messenger, the nervous system of the universe, is mundanely associated with Virgo. Rightfully so: if Mercury brings Gemini to the higher frequencies of the mental plane, it pulls Virgo into the sandpits of the subconscious. It is psychopomp Mercury, it is the delving and dealing with the real real instead of the ideal.
Strong, sand-like, it is Mercury in flesh and not just wind and words. It is a Mercury that shoves your face into your own makings and reveals all you did and did not do. Offering perspective, not criticism, the reality check of our responsibilities suddenly feels all too burdensome.
A groan from the silence in your throat.
Look how all my life’s paths have tangled.
In our minds, we yearn for the best ideals. We purchase bricks in the hopes of building beauty. Bricks, which become a stockyard pile, laminated with grass and insect spirits, the next inhabitant wondering what aspirations were left to sit and collect dust.
We may look at and criticize others for their abandoned projects. We look in our basements and storage sheds and see our own mess. Maybe we hide our shortcomings in the pursuit of perfection, the saving of face, or the impressing of first impressions.
Perhaps you are one who is eminently atop your to-do list. Incapable of ever fully relaxing as there is (always) more to do. You, the Virgo warrior with all its awareness—and that irritation in your neck and tummy that tells you something more needs to be done, more to build, more to evolve, more to manage.
We need you, Virgo.
But even you, oh capable one, have a garbage heap of plastic and discarded gifts in a midden heap somewhere. Even if you have cleared your space, what you have cleared has ended up elsewhere: re-gift, re-purpose, recycle, compost, landfill, rot.
Everything we touch still exists, somewhere.
If it is food, it has been digested, nourishing what we can assimilate, the left evacuated, dumped into an ocean somewhere. Reconstituted into Milorganite, human fertilizer rebranded. If it is a particle, it is in the water, the soil. If it is unprocessable, it is out there, floating in the ocean, building mountains of toxins and impermanent purpose.
Human brilliance and chemical compounds that have moved through our bloodstream are now in the water supply.
Our birth control is impacting the Everglades.
In pursuit of efficiency, efficacy, speed, brilliance, organization, and purpose — we humans include the details that fit into our hero’s story and our desired record. The anomalies unseen, we stop facing the facts that aren’t committed to our paradigm.
This is true of us culturally and individually.
All the streams of you are still present.
Those thought forms, those self-effacing beliefs, and the story of you are haunting your neural pathways. We dig brightly into the darkness when we are ready, but some of us— many of us— are never ready to look at our own demons and proclaim the external to be the problem.
True Virgo takes accountability for all its measures and intents. Its accountability will eat it alive at times, wanting to show up for each of its aspirations as fully as humanly possible.
My reminder to you here is that we are still human, and what we are capable of is only what is humanly possible.
That said, we see the great makings and aspirations of our species. Better living through chemistry, we make a more complicated culture, overwhelmed by apps and multiple calendars and user interfaces and touch screens and remotes and digital intelligence.
Until the grid goes down, until a hacker messes with our perfected system, it all seems streamlined. Our smart cars smart phones and smart watches are useless when we deconstruct the collective reality we’ve built.
If it's between you and nature, are you prepared to live?
Are you capable of remembering that you are, in fact, nature?
Go analog. Go burn a log. Go stargaze. Go disconnect. Microdose boredom. Dial down the frenetic and prune back commitments. This is a season of NO as much as it is a season of following your YES.
Additional Contemplation
This New Moon in Virgo reveals a kite formation: sextile and trine triangles with an opposition. Uranus to Neptune, Neptune to Pluto, Pluto to Sun/Moon, opposing Neptune.
There is a level of destiny or fate involved with a kite pattern. Neptune being the opposing force of this lunation creates a key to transformation, pushing through the veil. Seeing with clarity, beyond the knit picking of this world.
Sometimes I feel like my reports are a little rough. A little hard to digest.
Welcome to Virgo Season.
All the outer planets are in Retrograde currently: Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter. And our ol’ buddy Mercury in Virgo Rx being SUPER extra this month.
Have no fear. Retrogrades are a regular occurrence… it just seems like, um, this is a sign from the universe to slow down, trim the fat, cut back on the excesses, and prune where we have been a bit too extravagant or extra ourselves.
How do we slow down when we have so much to accomplish? How do we slow down when it just keeps coming, and it keeps coming…
The all too mercurial gift of “perspective.”
I wish I could regulate your nervous system for you. I wish I could do it better, faster, quicker for myself. We are all different, and our bodies respond to stress in different ways.
Grounding can involve gentle movement (an endless panic attack was quelled after an hour-long yoga session at Moving Galaxy last week, surprise surprise), eating nourishing foods, going outside, and using your senses to draw you back into the moment.
Virgo is two steps in front of itself all the time, which means its cerebral tendencies are effective, managerial, and incredible, but in reviewing the to-do lists, in reviewing all that’s been accomplished and all that is ahead — where is the moment? Where is now?
This is a process. Virgo is a process. Virgo is committed to the process of processing, which offers refinement, pursuit— a purpose.
We don’t need to be perfect.
We commit to being present.
Pluto’s square connection to the lunar nodes (Aries/Libra axis) sextile to Neptune trine to Sun/Moon really had a whole underbelly vibe. The things we don’t look at. The pieces we aren’t willing to acknowledge.
Relationships dynamics have been in the general atmosphere with the Venus Retrograde in Leo (no direct) and the ingress of the lunar nodes (it’s more of a regress since they move backwards through the seasons of the zodiac, but I digress) to the relational dynamic of Aries (me) and Libra (us).
As an Aries Sun, Libra Rising, let me just tell you I am an expert in this area…
LOLZ. jk.
What I DO know is that this rebalancing means that some of us need to do a lot better about being selfish and a lot of us need to do a lot better about being interested and involved with our fellow humans.
We may be the type, for any number of influences— attachment styles, astrology make up, life circumstances — that bolster other people and will adapt and make themselves very small to find where they fit… and sometimes that is a very small shelf that goes unnoticed.
Some of us were given so much praise, attention and accolades that we may center ourselves entirely in any dynamic. There are spectrums and changes in all our dynamics. It can change from person to person.
Pluto is power.
Pluto may not be interested in a balance of power, but it is this kinky subconscious plaything that we all have to sort out. We like to believe we’re in control, we may like to be told what to do (seriously, I just admitted my love for yoga, and that is me in a room with strangers being told what to do for an hour. Marvelous).
By building communication skills, by connecting with our desire we are encouraged again and again to state our preferences.
Preferences are not demands. They are preferences.
So whilst you navigate this retrograde season, this new moon, this season, all the things… perhaps consider where you may have turned your power over to another. Where have you abandoned your happiness and asked someone else to create it for you.
As Virgo is the child, this is a creative season for inner child work. And our inner selves need play and praise, not critical self-talk and admonishment.
