Full Moon in Capricorn
FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 2024, 18:08 PST
vanquish vs. relinquish
We have been drunk on glamour
for too long.
avoiding the hangover
with a slow drip IV
of denial.
The stores we believed were endless
are poured out
We never imagined
we could overmilk the world
of stored sunlight,
yet here we are.
Mouth agape
a titan’s arm lifted
above the global North’s giants
tipping out the last drops
hoarding
like bullies.
Addicted to oil
Addicted to power
mirrored by fossil fuels
by buried treasures
by unquenchable thirsts
fighting
like depraved dogs
over territory
even wolves respect each other’s space.
Longing for the Nectar of the Gods
Perhaps we thought petroleum ambrosia
That there are no consequences for our agreed-upon greed.

Send me a hello or fwd: this to a friend
Capricorn Full Moon falls a day after this year’s Summer Solstice, the earliest Summer Solstice on record since 1796.
Water seasons are often the most difficult charts for me to grapple with. Like the water houses (4, 8, 12) the same nebulous, intangible process occurs of reaching into the watery ethers and seeing what gathers in my hand. Sometimes it’s sand, jewels, mud, or some unexpected unmentionable to grapple with.
The ocean can be a terrifying place to explore.
In dark depths exist creatures inconceivable. The size, the sheer size feels unfathomable. The pressure created by the sheer weight of water is crushing. You can only see so far, and if the water is turbulent, all the muck and mire is stirred to a point where you may not see your hand in front of you. You may need equipment to explore. You may get lost. You may be tossed around.
Here in Baja, there are near-invisible jellyfish, translucent strings filled with electric venom whose sting is like a laceration to the face. A small price of entry to witness the aquarium of the world.
All this to say is that Cancer Season feels like a plunge into the quiet dark depths. We stretch our interpretive skills and social strengths in Gemini Season.
When your social battery is low, we must prioritize rest and restoration.
For some of us that is soaking up the Sun. For some of us that is a dark basement with films and your best friend. For some, it is a bed, your home, your childhood home; a kitchen, a bath, or nature… restoration looks different for each of us. Rest is defined as ceasing activity whereas restoration is to give life, attention, and care to what is depleted.
What parts of you are in disrepair from overuse? From undercare?
Neptune’s strong connections this lunation nod to shining light on our illusions, delusions, and false beliefs, and assessing our hopes, desires, dreams, and wishes.
Where can you pop your bubbles about what you think you are capable of? That you are limitless in the physical world is a misperception. That you “should” be producing, more productive, making more, and doing more may be the opposite of medicine. What can you do less of? What can you say no to that will benefit your well-being?

There is always a bombardment of energetic information to interpret leading up to these reports.
No sooner than asking the universe what this Solstice and Capricorn Full Moon embodied, Tree held their phone to me, this image haunting the screen:
Mobula image was taken by Zoe Lower @the.oceanic.eye
Zoe is a new acquaintance of ours. Zoe works at Free Dive Passion in La Ventana and has been a safety diver and support for Tree during their free dive depth training.
She is a bright soul, no doubt. When she shared this image and the story connected to it, I had to make space to share and showcase how I felt this connection to the astrology of this week. Visit Zoe’s Instagram account @the.oceanic.eye to read her beautiful reflection on this experience.
This is a Mobula, One species of mobula (rays) commuting through the Gulf of California. I had the privilege to swim with these beautiful angel beings this past Monday and they are truly captivating.
Zoe was out on a water outing, a sea safari of sorts, and for some reason they were called to go check an old fishing buoy. Zoe, the only freediver on this ship, found this trapped Mobula at 15M (50 feet) tangled and with her crew was able to cut the Mobula loose. From the footage, it appears it sustained some damage from the ropes, but was swimming, able to swim away after the challenging release.
I’m crying as I write this.
Capricorn feels like the desire to dominate the natural world. Capricorn feels like the desire to manage systematically all that it can see. Drunk on power, Capricorn can turn into a miserly master, believing it can conquer the chaos of Nature.
Cancer, yielding, tender, full of life, and fertility are subject to this domination. Cancer holds the folds of all manifest life and Capricorn puts reigns on it, breaks the horse, and tames the wild creature.
In Full Moons, we seek balance.
This story of the abandoned net and the trapped Mobula is only one of a thousand news stories revealing our unreasonable domination of the natural world.
Humans are capable of living in symbiosis with the Earth.
We are born of the Earth and meant to co-exist with other creatures, plants, and beings.
Scientists are proving what we should know innately: this Earth is sentient (aware), conscious, a living organism and organisms have multitudes of cells, molecules, and sub-beings that comprise it. Are we a sick organism? Have humans become parasitic in their greed?
We need only watch the documentary The Corporation (what a Capricorn title there) to see that humans in power have deferred responsibility by providing Corporations with autonomy, with being-hood.
A better question is how long will we (gestures with a sweeping motion towards a collective WE) let this go on?
Press Media is demonizing protestors who are shooting washable potato-based paint on the sacred and profane when we should be applauding them for trying to shake us awake.
May we live in interesting times, the adage goes.
Well, we do.

Cheerful Solstice, Happy Summer, Happy Full Moon.
How is your heart?
I try to find that fine balance between the squishy and fuzzy and the bullhorn and milk crate.
Not sure I met the brief this round, so thank you for hanging in here with me as we navigate modern times of globalization, the 24-hour news cycle, and a post-pandemic grief that is only acknowledged in the smallest of circles.
Whether you follow The Nap Ministry online or read Rest as Resistance, we can work against the mold of outdated and consumerist systems by saying No. By simplifying. By honoring yourself.
As I work through week 9 of the classic recovery work The Artist’s Way, I want to share a phrase with you:
Treating myself like a precious object makes me strong.
If we search for the balance between the watery, emotional oceans of Cancer and the dry, cool mountain air of Capricorn, there is a lush field to repose in. There is a space for reflection on the hard work we’ve accomplished in these past six months.
As the Sun releases its breath from the peak of the Summer Solstice, we recognize tensions we might hold in our chests, in our bodies. This is your permission to shake it out, dance it out, scream it out.
May you find an hour to lay in the grass, by a creek, in a park, under a tree, by a cactus, or cloud gazing this weekend.
stay inspired.
